LAUNCHING 2026
The ten thousand most influential people
on planet Earth, ranked. Right now.
No editorial bias. No moral judgments. No regional blindspots. A living, data-driven index of who shapes human affairs — across every domain, every nation, every language.
POWERED BY THE GLOBAL SIGNIFICANCE INDEX
ABOUT THE INDEX
Existing power lists are editorially curated, regionally biased, and domain-specific. The Ten Thousand is different. Built on the Global Significance Index — a transparent scoring framework that combines publicly measurable signals into a composite score anyone can inspect, challenge, and reproduce.
The index is morally neutral. It measures the degree to which an individual shapes, influences, or commands attention across human affairs. A head of state and a cartel leader may both rank highly. The index captures impact, not approval.
Every signal is publicly observable. Every weight is published. Every methodology decision is documented. This is an empirical project, built on the belief that transparency is the best defense against bias.
METHODOLOGY
01
Volume and geographic breadth of news coverage across multilingual global media sources.
02
Cross-linguistic Wikipedia presence, search interest, and digital information ecosystem reach.
03
Formal institutional power — the structural weight of the role an individual holds.
04
Financial resources commanded — personal wealth, institutional capital, and economic decision-making authority.
05
Contributions to human knowledge through academic impact, patents, and landmark discoveries.
06
Penetration into the cultural lives of large populations through music, film, sports, literature, and religion.
07
Position within elite networks of power — the connective tissue between institutions and decision-makers.
08
Influence operating outside institutional channels — armed groups, sanctions targets, and gray-zone actors.
PRINCIPLES
Every signal must be publicly observable and independently verifiable. No editorial opinion. No insider access.
Given the same inputs and methodology, any independent team should arrive at substantially the same rankings.
All regions, languages, and domains of human activity. Structural biases are identified and corrected.
Significance is orthogonal to virtue. The index does not distinguish between positive and negative influence.
Weights, sources, methods, and known limitations are published alongside the index itself.
Updated quarterly with weekly signal refreshes. Significance isn't static and neither is the index.
